Sunset Series 2022 at Waverton Park
In October 2022, North Sydney Council brought the local community together for Sunset Series, a weekend of live music, food and outdoor entertainment at Waverton Park. Koshka Media was there to capture the atmosphere across both days, 29 and 30 October, documenting the people, performances and spontaneous moments that made the event memorable.
From families enjoying picnics on the grass to friends dancing in the afternoon sunshine, Sunset Series was a wonderful example of how community events bring people together.
A Weekend of Live Music in North Sydney
Sunset Series 2022 transformed Waverton Park into a lively outdoor music venue. With a stage surrounded by greenery, food vendors and plenty of space to relax, the event created a welcoming atmosphere for visitors of all ages.
Saturday’s entertainment featured DJ Nicki G and Spicy Margaritas, while Sunday’s program included DJ Relax and ABBALANCHE, The Australian ABBA Tribute Show.
Our event photography focused on capturing both the energy of the live performances and the atmosphere throughout the park.
Capturing the People and Atmosphere of Sunset Series
The best moments at community events often happen away from the main stage.
Throughout the afternoon, we photographed friends sharing drinks, families spending time together, children enjoying the music and festivalgoers dancing without a care.
These candid interactions tell the story of the event just as much as the performances themselves. The warm afternoon light, colourful outfits and genuine smiles added a relaxed, joyful feeling to the photographs.
Live Music and Community Event Photography at Waverton Park
Photographing an outdoor event means looking beyond the performances to capture the complete experience.
At Sunset Series, our coverage included wide photographs showing the scale of the festival, musicians performing on stage, food and refreshments, and natural portraits of attendees.
The combination of live entertainment and a relaxed neighbourhood atmosphere made Sunset Series a great opportunity to document community life in North Sydney.
For event organisers, this variety of imagery provides a valuable visual record of an event, as well as content for future marketing, social media and community engagement.
