Guidewire Sydney Office Opening Night
There is something extra special about photographing a milestone for a client you’ve worked with for years.
Guidewire has been a wonderful and loyal client of Koshka Media for the past four years. We’ve photographed their annual Sydney events, including Guidewire Forum and InsurPitch, so it was a pleasure to be invited back for a different kind of celebration: the official opening of their new Sydney office.
Located at Suite 26.01, Level 26, 135 King Street in Sydney CBD, the new office gives the Guidewire team a fresh home in the heart of the city and a new space to work, collaborate and come together.
Ribbon Cutting and an Aboriginal Blessing
The celebration began with the official ribbon cutting, marking the opening of Guidewire’s new Sydney home.
This was followed by an Aboriginal blessing led by Bradley Twynham, including a powerful didgeridoo performance that brought everyone together for one of the most memorable moments of the evening.
Bradley then performed a brushing ceremony for the space and several Guidewire leaders. As an open fire wasn’t permitted inside the building, brushing was used rather than the smoke of a traditional Smoking Ceremony.
Brushing ceremonies are found in a number of Indigenous cultures, although their traditions, materials and meanings differ between communities. Broadly, the physical act of brushing can carry ideas of cleansing, protection, renewal and preparing people or a place for a new beginning. In some Indigenous traditions, branches or sacred plants are used to symbolically brush away unwanted or stagnant energy.
For an office opening, it made for a particularly meaningful moment: acknowledging the transition into a new space and the beginning of a new chapter for the people who will work there.
Live Music, Great Food and Familiar Faces
After the formalities, it was time to enjoy the new office.
There was plenty of delicious food, drinks and conversation as colleagues caught up and explored the space, with live music from Dave de Vries and friends creating the soundtrack for the evening.
These are always some of our favourite moments to photograph. Once the official program is finished, people relax, conversations flow and all those small interactions start happening naturally. They’re the photographs that bring the atmosphere of an event back to life afterwards.
Having photographed Guidewire events in Sydney for four years, there were plenty of familiar faces in the room too. That long-term relationship makes photographing an event like this particularly enjoyable.

This evening was more than simply opening the doors to a new workplace. It was a chance to bring colleagues together, acknowledge the significance of a new beginning and celebrate another milestone for Guidewire in Sydney.
Congratulations to the entire Guidewire team on the new Sydney home. We’re looking forward to seeing what happens in the new space and, hopefully, photographing many more celebrations there.
